Prompted To Change......

When I eventually ventured into the craft room to do some sewing I noticed the plastic dust cover for my sewing machine had perished on one side and flakes of the plastic were breaking off when touched. I'm guessing the sun through the window during all those heatwaves we had was the cause. So before throwing it away I used it as a pattern and made a new one.

We had a night out with "the girls" planned for Tuesday to celebrate friendM's birthday but we have moved it to next week as friendM's daughter was rushed into hospital with sepsis! I'm pleased to report they caught it early, did a little surgery immediately and now she is recovering well.

If you remember last week I phoned our surgery on E's behalf hoping to use their Care Coordinator to set up a care plan, neither of us have heard from them so a whole week later I rang the surgery again. Apparently it's all in hand just minimal staffing that has delayed it so I stressed all the details again and her notes were marked to increase priority. We have to be grateful that it did indeed receive priority as E had a phone call the next morning at 8am! Both E and I have repeatedly told every person we speak to not to phone her in the mornings as she lies awake all night and finally falls asleep about 4-5am so phoning at 8am is the middle of E's night. They asked a few questions to confirm the housebound/bedbound status and they asked her how she gets to the hairdressers! Wow! Do any chronically ill bedbound people have the hairdressers on their to do list?

We now have a date for meeting up with friendsL&K and friendsL&M towards the end of November and they said they would bring their Christmas cards to save postage so I'm now sorting our Christmas card list and I'll need to buy and write.

NeighboursT&S were having a sort and loading their car for charity shop donations. Then T retrieved some things and came to see if I'd like them. Some things we said an immediate no thank you.
These mugs are all the same with a very pretty Christmas pattern. The plates are plain and a useful size. We do host coffee morning groups of people and often my large family gatherings so I said yes please and thank you.
The next decision was where do we keep them?
I realised we had a cupboard in the dining room that was half filled with bottles of drink, most of which had been there for decades. I don't drink alcohol at all now and Hubby only tends to have a beer when he's out and very rarely when he's at home. So why are we keeping it all?
Any bottle that had been opened or a wine got emptied and the glass recycled.
Some spirits that had never been opened we'll offer to friends that we know drink lots.

Lovely visit Friday afternoon from Daughter, O and the dog. O was desperate to come over saying he'd almost forgotten what I looked like hahaha. We had a good catchup and he borrowed Hubby's binoculars for the film he's producing as his current college project and there's two new music albums in the pipeline too. Along with driving lessons and a girlfriend that doesn't live local he's very busy.

I'll finish this now as I'm off to get my flu and covid jabs done. What's that saying about "closing the stable door after the horse has bolted"? Of course there's also "better late than never".

Have a good week.
