Theatre: Once........

The New Wolsey Theatre and Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch co-present Once

A guy, a girl and the song that brought them together. Winner of eight Tony Awards® in 2012, including BEST MUSICAL, Once tells the unforgettable story of a Dublin street musician and a funny Czech flower seller, drawn together by their shared love of music.

As they assemble a band from her wild Czech family and his quirky Irish mates, the craic grows, the music flows and they fall slowly in love. The ensemble of actor-musicians play their instruments live on stage, in a dynamic show that steals your heart.

Once is about what happens when you take chances and go for your dreams. Catch the show as it makes its regional premiere!

I certainly cannot praise this enough, it was brilliant.

It's a fantastic Irish pub atmosphere with great musicians thoroughly enjoying themselves all with fantastic voices and unlimited energy, performing original music and meaningful lyrics. Mix in with all that a clever script that really fits each character telling the trauma of life's choices and so much humour too.

We were clapping along lots and a well deserved standing ovation by the whole audience!

It does sound great - was trying to work out how feasible it would be to get to Hornchurch before deciding its just not sensible. If I had an entirely free day I could combine it with a day trip somewhere in that direction but things are pretty busy. As always!

So sorry I've now made you all disappointed. If it has the same great response everywhere then it may tour again, so one to watch out for.

Don't think this week's will be as good and the one the week after I had to give my ticket away as it clashed with R's youth theatre performance which of course took priority. As you say we cannot do everything! xx
