Theatre: Made in Dagenham.........

It seems so long since our last theatre trip that we were all really looking forward to this!

Dagenham, 1968: Rita’s a busy mum, loving wife and hard working Ford factory employee. But something’s very wrong. Rita and her female colleagues find themselves working long hours sewing car seats for far less money than the men. And they’ve had enough.

Finding a voice she never knew she had, Rita leads the women on a trailblazing battle for equal pay, taking on the unions, Ford’s top brass and the Government. As the pressure mounts Rita struggles to keep up the fight and the happy home she’s worked so hard for.

Inspired by a true story and based on the hit movie, Made in Dagenham is an uplifting musical comedy about how ordinary people can do extraordinary things.

========================================================

Fantastic performance by the whole cast. As a musical they had great voices and good musicians and meaningful words sung to proper tunes that you want to sing along to. Choreography was mostly good, with only one dance really I found over the top and silly. The script was really moving at times while hilarious at other times.
The posh couple were discussing why their son, in public school, had been caned. She said "it was for farting in Latin" he said "well that's impressive, most people can't even speak in Latin"

My only criticism was one of the female factory workers, the oldest and mouthiest who's every other word was a swear word, was named Beryl hahaha......but she was also one of the funniest so I forgave her.

A very important time in our modern history told in the most entertaining way!
